A Bone to Pick

Halloween starts at 00:00 GMT (UTC+0) on Saturday 31 October. Two restless skeletons have turned up at Lily's pumpkin patch, crackers and scythes rain on Gielinor every hour, and three new masks are up for grabs.

Spookie and Scarie have moved into Lily's pumpkin patch near Rimmington and will not stop singing. Lily would like them gone for good, and killing them only buys a few minutes before they pull themselves back together.

• Talk to Lily at her patch to start. She has a plan, but it needs a machine nobody has built before.
• You will be visiting a carpenter, an apothecary and a certain professor with a chicken for the parts. Bring your own hammer.
• Finish the job and you walk away with the Ring of Skull, which turns you into a skeleton for as long as you wear it.
• Lily's pumpkins are a new ingredient: bake them into Lily's pumpkin pie, a two-bite pie with a flavour of its own.

Trick or treat crackers

For five days from the start of the event, items drop across the whole world every hour: scythes on the hour and trick or treat crackers at half past. Pull a cracker with another player and one of you gets a mask, the other a prize.

• The masks this year are orange, purple and black.
• Prizes: a pumpkin, a chocolate bar, toad legs, Zamorak robes or an unholy symbol. One pull in five is a trick instead: coal, a cooking apple, rotten apples or a burnt shark.
• Ironmen can have a banker pull a cracker with them and keep both halves.
• A long-standing bug where a trick pull ate the cracker and gave nothing has been fixed, so every cracker now pays out.

• Valkor no longer stops changing stages. Respawned instance bosses were piling up behind the scenes until the world ran out of room for new monsters; they now leave with their instance.
• The world can now hold twice as many monsters as before.
• King Black Dragon: an anti-dragon shield worn with the Defense cape made the dragon's breath skip entirely, prayer drain included. Full protection now means no breath damage, not a free pass on everything else.
• Bags: use a rune, gem, herb or slayer item on its bag to put just that item in. A stack of runes goes in whole; everything else goes in one at a time.
• Alchemy, low and high, asks you to confirm before alching anything with a high alch value of 300,000 gp or more.
• The desktop client keeps a client.log in its Cache folder with crash and freeze details.
